Construction of new train station at Perth airport nearing completion
Construction of the new train station at Perth airport is about to reach another milestone with the new skybridge connecting commuters to the terminals nearing completion.
The station is now 70 percent complete with the first girders of the 137-tonne steel roof recently put in place, and travelators are already installed on the 280-metre walkway.
Premier Mark McGowan said the Airport Link will have some of the longest travelators and escalators in the world, which will stretch between the train station and the skybridge.
The skybridge has been put together by West Australian company Georgiou.
The stair work is being done in Western Australia by Pacific Industrial Company.
More than 700 WA workers are employed across the project.
The station and Forrestfield line are expected to open late next year.
